The Terry "Blue" Futch Community Service Award was established in 2002 in memory of Terry "Blue" Futch.
"Blue" was a 20+ year sponsor of the Louisiana Watermelon Festival as well as well known
local business man and giving person in the community. He was a State Farm Insurance Agent
for 35 years, he was a member of the Church of Christ of Farmerville, and a lifelong resident
of Union Parish. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University, he has served as past president of
the Ruston Chapter of the LA Association of Life Underwriters, Farmerville Lions Club,
Farmerville Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation,
past member of the Board of Directors of the Farmerville Housing Authority, and a
member of the Board of Union General Hospital. His widow, Jean is still a local hostess for
the Miss contestants competing in the Miss Louisiana Watermelon Festival pageant. This award is
sponsored annually by Shannon Futch.
